World events¶
The world does not wait for its lords. Near the lords who play, it leaves riches to find, and it sends warbands against the realms that have outgrown their protection. A world's charter can turn either off.
Finds¶
Every few hours at most, a comet falls or a caravan is abandoned on a free site of a province where lords play. It leaves a spoils field that anyone may salvage, first come, first served. Every lord active nearby gets a report (in the Other tab) saying where it lies and what it holds; its Salvage it button prepares the march. Send Scavenger Carts, or Rangers if the find landed in the Wilds, before your neighbours do.
| Find | Chance | Spoils field |
|---|---|---|
| Fallen comet | 33% | 50% runestone · 50% aether |
| Abandoned caravan | 67% | 50% iron · 30% runestone · 20% aether |
A find grows with the renown of the lords around it, so it is worth the march at every stage of the game.
Warbands¶
A realm that has outgrown its fledgling protection, and whose lord plays, is raided now and then. A warband sworn to the nearest NPC realm gathers in the Wilds of the province and marches on the lord's Seat. The lord gets a report, the incoming host shows in the timeline and the Hosts panel, and an alert reaches their devices if they chose to hear of hosts marching on them. Its Simulate their assault button opens the battle simulator with the raiders against what defends the Seat.
The warband is worth part of what defends the Seat, so a well-defended realm usually beats it, and its fallen leave a spoils field at the walls to salvage. It fights as any assault does, and plunders if it wins; what it carries off goes to its NPC realm, which grows richer for those who raid it in turn. Its survivors scatter on the way home. A realm in Sanctuary is never raided, and a warband that finds its target gone into Sanctuary turns back.
